Cards From Diane

Last week I met up with my new friend Diane from Montana. Yes, that is us in a parking lot off the freeway . Diane is in town for her daughter’s surgery at Primary Children’s Hospital and personally delivered 250 cards and card kits for Operation Write Home and Huntsman Cancer Institute! WOW! THANKS SO MUCH Diane!! Her kits and cards are absolutely beautiful!

We spent a few minutes talking and Diane shared some of her experiences she has had because of her daughter’s time in and out of the hospital. Listening to her has me even MORE excited for our Care With Cards Program and our card kits for the children at John Huntsman.
The kids who are there for an extended period never feel well and don’t have a lot of energy. Our card kits will give them the opportunity to put together a cute card in a short amount of time. Plus the “healing arts” are so beneficial to these little ones in their cancer fight.

I love these! The monkey card also came in the form of card kits. I am sure the kids will LOVE these!

Anyone up for some Imaginisce at Scrapbook USA?

Over the years Imaginisce has been a fan favorite at Scrapbook USA Expo. I am thrilled to let you know they will be at our September 28-29th show! Yippee! Plus they have some FUN new products to share.

A few weeks ago I spent the evening with our friends at the Imaginisce headquarters and got a “hands on” experience.

The crew at Imaginisce has been super busy with the launch of “Kaboo”, a line of handbags with a built-in tech pouch. I am looking forward to picking one (or 2) of these up. They are fashionable and have all the function I need when taking my iPad or my kids Kindle Fire with me on the road. Plus they come in dozens of styles and colors perfect for fall. My evening at Imaginisce also included a fun project with the i-Top. I love this idea for a mommy/daughter craft. Easy enough for my girls but super cute as well.

I made a fun bracelet. We used fabric scraps, a basic bracelet base, and i-top brad daddies covered in fabric. I love the ribbon necklace as well.

Some REALLY fun new product has been released over the past few weeks. My absolute favorite has been this new collection by My Mind’s Eye- “The Sweetest Thing”. It has the most wonderful colors. I can’t get enough of the shades

of tangerine and blue along with the gold and hints of red. Plus all the stickers, brads, crochet flowers and cutouts make this collection really easy and fun to use.

Care With Cards, We Are On Our Way…

THANKS SO MUCH to all those who participated in our Doodledragon Studios card challenge! In a 3 week time period we brought in 494 cards for Operation Write Home and Huntsman Cancer Institute. That is absolutely fantastic!

We will be accepting cards and card kits through our September show. Another card challenge will be coming up before the show. Our goal is 3000 cards, we are well on our way.

Back To School!

What are those feelings? Excitement?… dread?…. sadness?…. happy smiles?…. I really don’t know what I am feeling but whatever it is, I will be feeling it over and over all week. 7th grade middle school day today, 2 to elementary tomorrow and one jubilant kindergartener on Friday.
What I do know is that I am in the mood to up my game! My daughters LOVE surprises in their backpack and lunch sacks. There are SO many ideas floating around right now. Check out some of my favorites below.

Photo Display with Ikea & My Mind's Eye

A few weeks ago my 2 daughters and I hit the shopping trail at Ikea. After a yummy breakfast (kids eat FREE on Tuesday) in Ikea’s restaurant we were ready to shop! I had one thing in mind - Photo frames to display a few photos that I am not ready to close into my scrapbook quite yet.

I knew right where to go, but first we enjoyed a browse through the store to see the new product they have for fall. Check out their 2013 catalog, lot’s of fun colors and new product!

Ikea is absolutely the BEST place to pick up photo frames, fun shelves and accessories to highlight favorite photos! So many fun shapes and designs. Best of all they coordinate and compliment one another. Whether you decorate with a modern flair or prefer a softer look, these frames are plenty versatile for everyone.

 

I am in LOVE with the large frame I found! My goal with this project was to take the scrapbook page from the album and put it onto the wall. Piece of cake with this frame. The matte was the perfect size to accessorize. Plus I love the shadow box feature with this frame. You can place the photo right up against the glass or give it a recessed look. I love that the embellishments can be chunky to add to the overall effect.

I love Ikea for SO many reasons, one of them being that prices aren’t over the top. This whole project ran just over $50 to put together. Not bad considering I used a light adhesive on the matte so I will be able to update it at a later date.

I went into Ikea with a pretty focused vision but left with a bunches of ideas floating around in my head for a few other walls in my home. In a few days school starts, look for me in Ikea!

A few weeks ago I was making breakfast when my "baby" came out of her room. It was right then that it hit my like a ton of bricks. She isn't a baby anymore. It was like she grew 4 inches and changed her facial features while we were sleeping. Oh wow! Capture Your 365 with Katrina Kennedy

Over the years we have seen our share of phenominal teachers at Scrapbook USA Expo. Fall 2012 is no exception at all. I am thrilled to introduce Katrina Kennedy from "Capture Your 365" who will be sharing her photography talents and skills with us September 28th.

Katrina Kennedy from Capture Your 365 has the answers to all these questions and more.

Since 2008, Katrina has been taking a photo a day to document life's treasures. Isn't that incedible?? When I saw that I mentally imagined my last 4 years. In 2008 I had a 1 year old and a newborn. They are big girls now, it would be amazing if I had a collection of our daily life in the beginning. Everything has changed in 4 years.
