The Paper Cut is Coming to Scrapbook USA!

I am always asked which vendor is selling "the basics". Every vendor does have some of those but when it comes to the "must haves" in your supplies, I am happy to report, the vendor you won't want to miss for all those staple products is The Paper Cut! This is one great company and I am thrilled they have accepted the invite to join us at Scrapbook USA this weekend!!

The Paper Cut is a fantastic company coming all the way from Wisconsin! They specialize in bulk paper (printed and plain), die cuts and kits, envelopes, and cards.

A2SCLPLCK-SA07BR_400

You will definitely want to pop over to their blog and "pin" some of their cards. SO cute! Lot's of great inspiration!!

Visit their booth often because every few hours they will be doing a different make-n-take. Here is one of them:
Photo: We are happy to Welcome The Paper Cut to Scrapbook USA!! Great vendor for all the basics we crafter's need! They will also have different make-n-takes going on throughout the show. There is a small fee for each one, all money they collect from these make-n-takes is donated to cancer research. So happy to have them this year!
http://thepapercut.com/

There will be a small fee for their make-n-takes (around $2) but all the money will be donated to cancer research (LOVE this). In addition....

We have a new contest at the show this year and it is being sponsored by The Paper Cut. 36 lucky participants each day will be able to participate in our Make-N-DONATE Card Challenge!! The Paper Cut will provide each participant with the exact same card kit (sneak peek below) and they will then have 15 minutes to turn it into a card that can be donated to Operation Write Home. WOW! I can't wait to see all the unique and different things that can be done with paper. Participation prizes for each participant plus The Paper Cut will be providing prizes for the top 3 cards!! Let's get our CRAFT on!

If you are "game" and want in on this action you can enter for your opportunity at the stage.

DREAMSAVER - For The Things You Couldn't Live Without...

I am pretty excited about many of our new Scrapbook USA vendors! Take a look at DREAMSAVER. They are a brand new company and are making their official product launch at Scrapbook USA!

DREAMSAVER is a NASA based company that's developed a state of the art disaster protection system, a next generation "Treasure Chest", for your priceless and irreplaceable valuables. Their product provides lightweight, large volume "unparalleled heat, fire and water protection". For the things you couldn't live without....

What do you have protecting your irreplaceable treasures?  How would you feel if you lost your picture albums and scrapbooks to fire or a flood?  Did you know that there is a house fire every 82 seconds?  One in every 310 homes will have a fire! 1.4M catastrophic insurance claims a year. Why take the chance!

A couple of years ago my husband and I set out to invest in a fire-proof safe. He had 1 or 2 items to store in it and I had my serious collection of heirloom photos, old journals and family history records.

In the end we purchased a "top of the line" safe that is perfect for storing a gun collection and will keep our items very safe in a fire as long as the fire burns for no more than a few minutes. After that, my treasures are still safe, just hot enough that they will most likely be a melted mess. We did settle a bit because there really didn't seem to be anything on the market with the scrapper or genealogist in mind.

The new DREAMSAVER storage protection system is made specifically for scrappers, genealogists and other collectors. They are offering pre-orders of a limited, first run, of only 50 boxes for sale at the show.

Co-founded by a 5 time astronaut, the Team behind DREAMSAVER brings over 40 years experience with Space Shuttle heat shield materials and engineering.

What I find amazing about their product is that it's been tested in simulated house fires of 1,600 degrees F for 30 minutes. Temperatures inside their box stayed below 175 degrees. And weights 2/3 less than a comparable size fire proof safe!

Our friends at DREAMSAVER are very excited to bring their new product to Utah and introduce it to the greatest Scrapper's and Crafter's in the country. Their passion is to help you protect what matters most!

In addition to showing off and taking orders on their brand new product, they will also be giving away one at the show - a $995 value!  Serial number 001!!  If you would like a chance to be one of the first owner's of a DREAMSAVER safe, stop by their booth and show off a photo of "what matters most to you"! It can be an actual photo, or a photo on your phone.
As this is their first launch party they are looking for feedback on their product. They would love to share their knowledge on how you can achieve the priceless "piece of mind protection" that we all want to enjoy!

The Brand New ScanNCut By Brother

I am often asked which cutting machine I think is the best. It's hard to answer since there is so much personal preference to these fun electronic's. The good news is that there are some GREAT products on the market right now! With that said, I am happy to introduce the latest player in the world of electronic cutting machines - The ScanNcut by Brother! You may recognize Brother as a maker of scanner's, printers and sewing machines. They definitely are a brand we all recognize. It is not a surprise that they have brought their great products into the world of crafting!

http://www.brother-usa.com/scanncut/#.Ux-zavRDuYU
This fun and new toy was one of the hottest and most anticipated items at CHA this winter. In fact, it left the show as not only one of the Hottest products of 2014 but was actually voted first place!

I am also thrilled to mention that the brand new ScanNCut will be available at Scrapbook USA Expo in just a few weeks!
http://www.brother-usa.com/scanncut/#.Ux-zavRDuYU
Nuttalls Bernina (a great fabric shop by the way) is going to be with us March 28-29th and they will bring along with them a number of really fun "power tools" including the new ScanNCut! I love the crossover between sewing and paper crafting. I love both creative outlets and I am thrilled to see that this fine machine caters to both the paper crafter as well as the sewers.

So, what is so unique about the ScanNCut? How about this:

*Create your own patterns
*no cartridges. Cut personalized elements, including handwriting
*Cut a variety of surfaces and materials
*Cut fabric with ease. You can even draw in sewing guidelines and add a seam allowance
*Like to quilt? create custom quilt blocks and cut several pieces at one time.
Make sure to stop by the Nuttall's booth at the show. They will have giveaways that you won't want to miss out on!! Plus their booth will have demo's of the new ScanNCut as well as other great products plus there will be lot's of education for the current crafter and sewer.

Meet Shimmerz Paints - Coming to Scrapbook USA Expo!

Shimmerz Paints

I am practically..... giddy....thinking of the fabulous vendors we have joining us at Scrapbook USA in a few short weeks!

It is really amazing to meet these companies! So many of our vendors this year will be there with new and exciting products to help us expand our skills, style and creativity! Shimmerz Paints is just one of the many companies that gets me REALLY excited!

So, what are Shimmerz Paints you might ask?? Really it's simple, they are a collection of water based paints that add spunk and sparkle to make any project shine!

The projects over on the Shimmerz Paints blog are absolutely amazing!! I currently have a white canvas, a photo and an idea in my head of a project for my daughter's room. I can't wait to try out these paints on my project.

The good news is if you are new to mixed media, they have all sorts of video tutorials on their blog. For example, this gift tag, isn't it amazing?

There is a fantastic video tutorial on the Shimmerz blog that walks you through this project step by step.

The staff from Shimmerz Paints will be at the show, ready to show-off the amazing things you can do with these paints right inside their booth.

Isn't this card amazing??
Hop on over to their shop, blog and follow their facebook page to see more  about what Shimmerz Paints has to offer!!

Also, if you are looking for an opportunity to sit down and work up a mixed media project for yourself at the show, check out Sherry Mendoza's Friday night Mixed Media Canvas Class.

Sherry is an amazing and talented artist. She will be teaching techniques, style and art as you explore your creative side and put together this fun masterpiece for yourself!

Meet Authentique Paper!

Easter is just around the corner! Isn't this card SO cute!

One of my favorite things about shopping at The Original Scrapbook USA Expo is that I am always be able to find my favorite brands and companies as well as great new vendors who quickly become my new favorites!

March 28-29, 2014 will not disappoint. A number of new companies will be joining the show, including Authentique Paper.

I have been admiring their collections for some time now and I am REALLY excited to have them with us this year!

Authentique Paper has been around for just 2 years but they have literally exploded onto the paper crafting scene with a very fun and unique "vintage with a modern twist" style.
This card and milk carton style box are from Authentique's new collection "Suave". The colors are AMAZING! Check out the tutorial for these projects as well as other amazing layouts with this collection.
All of Authentique's paper is made in the U.S.A. and all of their products are specifically designed to enhance their company vision that each of us are "genuine" and unique.

I perused their blog this morning and found a number of cute and practical projects (with tutorials) to share. I know that you are going to LOVE Authentique Paper as much as I do! Take a minute and check out their blog and make sure to follow Authentique on Pinterest, Facebook and Instagram.

Scrapbook USA is less than 3 weeks away! We are getting SO excited to see all our old friends and to make many new friends! While at the show, make sure to stop by Authentique Paper's booth and check out all the fun product and projects that they have!!

Tool n' One - A MUST have! NEW from Spellbinder's

A few weeks ago I went to CHA (Craft & Hobby Association) and was able to see what is new, hot and trending in the world of crafting!

One of the booths that really caught my eye was Spellbinders who is also a NEW vendor at Scrapbook USA Expo this March. Their booth was gorgeous! The first thing that caught my eye was a little purple handheld  device that they were demonstrating. It is their newest product called Tool n' One. It is awesome!! Even if you don't ever plan on owning a die-cut from Spellbinder's, you will want this tool.
Learn more about Spellbinder's new tool

This handy tool performs a number of duties including paper piercing and paper removal. It has a variety of different "tips" that you attach to the end so you always have the right tool for the job. Another great feature is that the additional tips store inside the body of the tool for a convenient storage spot.

The big question is "Will this tool be at Scrapbook USA?" The answer is, "I hope so!" Hopefully the first shipment will arrive just before our show which will make us one of the first markets to have the opportunity to get this tool in our hands. Either way, stop by Spellbinder's booth and learn more about the Tool n' One as well as all the other products they will have available including their beautiful dies and machines!

Cards: Operation Write Home and Cards For Soldiers

Operation Write Home is the most popular organization we have been donating to, and for good reason. They are top-notch!

Millions of cards have been sent to soldiers through Operation Write Home and we are thrilled to support them.

Cards for Soldiers is another fantastic organization. They are smaller but still serve the same purpose.

The cards we ship are blank on the inside and are shipped straight to our soldiers who are able to pick them up for free and use them to correspond home with their loved ones. They are able to ship the cards at no charge through the US Postal Service.

Click by each organizations logo above to go directly to their site to find out more about them but in a nutshell here are the guidelines if you would like your card to go to Operation Write Home or Cards for Soldiers:

*4.25X5.5 size cards ONLY. This is 1/2 of a 8.5X11 sheet
*NO GLITTER-It is a safety concern for the soldiers and they won't be sent. I get at least 100 every show that are gorgeous but also very glittery. No problem for the Juvenile Detention Center, so they are donated, but they will not go to the soldiers. You can use stickles or glitter pens are fine as long as the glitter does not rub off. that does not rub off.
*No store bought cards
*Nothing handwritten-if you personalize it on the back it WILL NOT be accepted by Operation Write Home but will be accepted by Cards For Soldiers. Just try to avoid this if at all possible.
*Thickness- Remember these are shipped USPS, keep the thickness to a minimum so it can safely travel through the mail system.
*Quality-Quality is much more important than quantity. Use quality product and make sure everything is adequately attached.
*Include Envelopes-Please include envelopes if at all possible (white, cream or tan).
*White Lining- If you use dark cardstock for the card, that is fine just please "line" the inside of the card with white cardstock so the soldiers can actually write inside the card with a regular pen.

Donated in October by Brittany A. during our Card Challenge

Themes:
Birthday (General)
Blank
Thinking of You
Miss You
Friendship
Love (General)
Holidays: Valentines, Easter/Spring, Halloween, Thanksgiving/Fall, Christmas/Winter

The best cards are those that have a long shelf life, meaning that they can be used at various times throughout the year.

Remember: While there are many women in the military, there are more men. Try to keep the themes as "neutral" as possible since we do not know who giver is or who the receiver is. That does not mean that pink swirls are out, just make a blue card for every pink card :).

Each card that goes to Operation Write Home needs to be packaged a certain way with a stamp on the back. You are welcome to help out with this process at the show (in fact we would love it). Just stop by the Care With Cards booth and let them know you have a minute or two to give.

Care With Cards 2014- Lot's to be Excited About!

Care with Cards at Scrapbook USA Expo is now entering it's 3rd year at the show. It has been SO amazing! We have collected over 15,000 cards, card kits, journals, hats and blankets in just 2 years. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! Thanks SO much for getting involved!

We have been able to get involved with some incredible organizations who are doing alot of good in our community and throughout the world! This year we will be continuing with some of the same organizations as in the past as well as adding another new group that is also doing some amazing work.

Here is a little breakdown of what we will be collecting and where it will be going:

Cards: Operation Write Home
Cards: Cards For Soldiers
Card Kits: Utah Juvenile Detention Center
Crochet Hats: Huntsman Cancer Institute
Altered Journals with Composition Notebooks: Huntsman Cancer Institute
Adult Blankets: Huntsman Cancer Institute
Youth & Baby Blankets: Project Linus

WOW! I know that the ladies (and gents) that attend Scrapbook USA are the best crafters in the world so I know we will be able to send some beautiful talent to these organizations!

Each day this week I will be highlighting one of the above organizations and will describe their needs and share some ideas on what you can do now to get involved and have something to bring to the show.

Plus! For every donation you make, you will receive a drawing ticket that may just win you one of the many great prizes we will have at the show including a TV, an IPAD, or a Kindle. Plus hundreds of other fun items that will be up for grabs!

NEW this show:

Make-N-Donate: Take a few minutes at the show and participate in a "Make-N-Donate". We will have all the supplies there, cut and ready to go. Just stop by and help to assemble a card or card kit to donate. It will only take a few minutes, will be alot of fun and there will be prizes for all that participate.

Hat Looms: if you have a few minutes to spare while visiting with a friend, sit down and do a few rows on a hat loom. If everyone does a few rows, we will have ALOT of hats! You can sit in our Care With Cards (and crafts) area or check out the loom and sit at a table with your friends and visit while working on a hat.

2014 Create A Card Challenge: Do you have what it takes to make a beautiful card with whatever supplies you are given? We will find out!! Enter at the show stage to have a chance to see if you have what it takes to WIN! Each contestant will receive a kit of cardmaking supplies. You can only use the items in the kit but they can be "altered" using products you have or products that are available at the show (ie adding the use of punches, trimmers, scissors or cutting devices is acceptable). You will have a "short" time limit to complete your card for judging. Prizes for all who dare to participate in this one plus all cards will be donated to Operation Write Home.

Also, ALOT of stamping and organizing goes into getting the cards ready for shipping after the show. If you have 5 or 10 minutes at the show feel free to offer your "services" to help out our wonderful workers at the Care With Cards booth. They will be busily organizing the cards by themes, stamping the backs and getting them ready for shipping.

See You ALL March 28-29, 2014!!

Help Us Welcome Picaboo Yearbooks to Scrapbook USA! + Plus Giveaway

We are just days away from Scrapbook USA Expo 2013 and we have LOT'S of fun and creative new vendors at the show this year! We are SO excited to welcome Picaboo Yearbooks and can’t wait to have you check out what they have to offer…including free digital e-yearbooks…that’s right completely free no print obligation for schools, groups, or individuals.

But wait, before I get ahead of myself I should back track…Picaboo Yearbooks is a new division of Picaboo.com and they have leveraged their award winning software to allow individuals at any skill level to create a customized yearbook that is simple and fun to create.

I know your thinking yearbooks? What Picaboo Yearbooks is doing, is really more exciting than just yearbooks. Remember getting your yearbook and flipping through to see how many times your picture was in the book?  With Picaboo Yearbooks every student gets to customize their yearbook to tell their story; students can create a custom back cover and add four custom pages to the book all for free, truly making the book “their yearbook”.

The magic is, it’s not just yearbooks for high school, you’re going to want to check these out for your kids in elementary school and middle school and they can even be used for fundraisers for your kids sport groups and teams, cheerleading, dance, family reunions, group family vacations, family history books…the uses are endless because of the features and formatting they have created to make it accessible to everyone.

The web based application is free; you just go online and start your book. Books start at just $8.49 for a book with 20 pages and each page is only $0.21 more! I know the price is great but the best part is that there are no minimums that must be purchased to get this price and if you’re doing your book for a group you don’t have to preorder anything.

We all know nothing is harder than being the mom on the soccer team that volunteers to put together the photo book at the end of the season; you end up buying twenty books (spending way too much money) and running around to collect money and deliver the books, hoping everyone pays you! With Picaboo Yearbooks you’re provided an easy to set up e-commerce site so family and friends go online and purchase their book; selecting from soft cover, hard cover or the free digital e-yearbook and they all get to create a custom back cover and add 4 free custom pages to turning the group’s book into their personal book.

Are you ready to check it out?  Go to http://yearbooks.picaboo.com/ and start your project; books can be ordered as soon as they’re done and e-yearbooks can be downloaded for free starting April 1st.

***If you want a chance to win one of five coupon codes for a free soft cover book just visit Picaboo Yearbooks Facebook page and tell them what you think of a customized yearbook for your kids!

If you live in Utah and want more information on how to start your project or to talk about the discounts they have for schools and groups so they can easily fundraise using Picaboo Yearbooks then email Autumn at autumn(at)picabooyearbooks(dot)com

Heartstrings Designs at Scrapbook USA Expo

Hello and good morning..

It's Wendi here and I'm doing my second part of my review on the Heartstring Designs kit. Heartstring Designs is one of the many new and fun vendors that you will find at The Original Scrapbook USA Expo in just a few short weeks...

I used the January Vintage Wonder kit:
I already got 2 one page layouts completed and a 2 pager layout with this kit, and I still have more to share with you.
The kit came with two cards and envelopes and so I was excited to make some cards with this kit.
First up, I just LOVED this cute deer and couldn't wait to use it:
And my second card, is Hello, U Rock.
And last, I was shocked to see that there was even a mini album in the kit!!!! How fun and cool is that. It was perfect for a recent trip we took which I had a TON of photos for. So I created this album about our recent Utah trip:
Here's the opening page:
Here's how a few of the inside pages turned out:
and here is what the album looked like, I fit in a TON of photos:
So make sure to check out Heartstring Designs and their wonderful kits!!! you will be blown away how jammed packed they are with goodies...

Have a wonderful day.....
